ArtDepot is honored to announce that the solo exhibition "Burn Slow" by artist Jak Sun officially opened at the Aurora Art Museum on August 30, 2025. This exhibition brings together a selection of the artist’s works created between 2023 and 2025, presenting a fresh dialogue between street culture and classical aesthetics.
Frenzy is the primal undercurrent of the human spirit—a private desire burning in love, yet also an unconscious collective delirium. This duality of obsession forms the inner drive of civilization’s evolution—it breeds absurdity, yet also grants power and propels creation.
Jak Sun’s work is a continuous exploration of this precarious balance. An artist with a DJ background, he transplants the concept of "Plunderphonics" into the visual realm. From seizing public spaces to plundering the shared imagery of art history, he employs the streetwise violence of spray paint, reconstructing a new visual order with near-ritualistic precision.
The artist's imitation of fractured antique porcelain textures not only exposes civilization's self-consuming frenzy in perpetual iteration, but also stands as a profound metaphor for contemporary collective anxiety. We meticulously maintain surfaces of polished order, yet can never conceal the inherent fragility beneath. And frenzy—that primordial psychic force—will forever perpetuate its endless cycle of destruction and rebirth.
